Medina Azahara

Para la excursión de hoy, fuimos a las antiguas ruinas de Medina Azahara, el capital de avispero. El significado del nombre Medina Azahara es “la cuidad brillosa”. En el museo se podían ver muchos artefactos arqueológicos que se encontraron en las ruinas. Medina Azahara se empezó a construir en 936 y termino 940. En medina había patios, mosque, jardines, y residencias con baños. Fue construido en el sitio donde los romanos tuvieron un acueducto desde Sierra Morena a Córdoba. Medina Azahara fue un símbolo de poder, esto se pudo ver en la pequeña porción que fue excavada.

For today's excursion, we went to the ancient ruins of Medina Azahara, the nesting capital. The meaning of the name Medina Azahara is "the bright city". In the museum you could see many archaeological artifacts that were found in the ruins. Medina Azahara began to be built in 936 and finished 940. In the medina there were patios, mosque, gardens, and residences with bathrooms. It was built on the site where the Romans had an aqueduct from Sierra Morena to Cordoba. Medina Azahara was a symbol of power, this could be seen in the small portion that was excavated.
