La Mezquita

La Mezquita se constituyó en el siglo 7, para que los musulmanes tuvieran un sitio en donde rezar. Tomó un ano para construirlo. Para construirlo, usaron materiales reciclados de la edad de los romanos. Tradicionalmente la mezquita tiene que enfrentarse a la meca, pero cuando hicieron las mediciones no fueron precisas. A veces podían haber hasta 230000 personas orando al mismo tiempo. Cuando se expandió se incluyo en el centro una capilla cristiana y un catedral en la parte trasera de la Mezquita. Hoy en día, la mezquita ya no se usa como mezquita, sino como la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.

The Mosque was established in the 7th century, so that Muslims had a place to pray. It took a year to build it. To build it, they used recycled materials from the Romans' age. Traditionally the mosque has to face Mecca, but when they made the measurements they were not precise. Sometimes there could be up to 230,000 people praying at the same time. When it expanded it included a Christian chapel and a cathedral in the back of the Mosque. Today, the mosque is no longer used as a mosque, but as the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption.
